What instrumentation does Radeas use for COVID-19 testing?

RT-PCR – EUA approved Thermofisher RT-PCR. What is a PCR test? Also called a molecular test, this COVID-19 test detects genetic material of the virus using a lab technique called polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

What types of specimens are required for testing?

RT-PCR - COVID-19 testing requires nasopharyngeal specimen collection. See specimen collection kit for more detailed information.

When should I get tested?

Evidence suggest that testing tends to be less accurate within three days of exposure, and the best time to get tested is five to seven days after you were exposed. Tests are even more accurate when patients are exhibiting symptoms. COVID-19's incubation period lasts up to 14 days.

What are the criteria for sample rejection?

Calcium alginate tip or cotton tipped swabs or swabs with wooden shafts. Glass Tubes. Contaminated, broken, or leaking transport device.

What is the turn-around time?

Results will be provided within 24 to 48 hours upon receipt within the lab.

How will test results be reported?

Tests will be reported as "detected, not detected, or inconclusive."

How will customers be notified of the test results??

Test results will be reported back to the provider as requested on the test profile via Email or SMS (text message)

Will Radeas notify states of COVID-19 test results?

Radeas will comply with applicable public health requirements or requests for specimens from state public health departments.

Are these tests approved by the FDA?

These tests have been validated by the FDA’s independent review through the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) process.
